:- Introduction
Louisa Johnston Training and Employment Centre Inc. is a Community based non-profit organisation, dedicated to the well-being of the people with a disability residing in the isolated, but beautiful rural area of the Upper Valley of the Clarence River in Northern New South Wales, Australia.
Founded in 1968 at Bonalbo, the organisation continues to honour our benefactor Mrs Louisa Johnston, by naming our business outlets “Louisa’s”.
Louisa’s offers supported employment to people with a disability, providing a flexible training program tailored to meet individual needs. Employment opportunities exist with Louisa’s Fine Foods and Louisa’s Plant Nursery.
Louisa’s Fine Foods produce top quality home style biscuits and a range of jams, relish, chutneys, pickles and sauce. All products are cooked and packaged on our Government approved premises at Bonalbo, before distribution to selected outlets.
Louisa’s Nursery grows and supplies both native and exotic plants adapted to our local climatic conditions. Our range includes dry rainforest trees, Cold Hardy Clumping Bamboo and grasses, Cacti and Succulents, Perrennial colour, Summer Bulbs and Flowering shrubs, Ferns and house plants, fruit trees and vegetable seedlings.
Emphasis is on frost hardy, drought tolerant and lowest weed risk selections.
Louisa’s is the only Government approved provider of disability services within the Kyogle Shire area .
Dedicated staff and a committed volunteer group give care and training, providing skills and abilities for people with special needs within a workplace environment.
